Job summary

Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. (Con Edison) is seeking a Substation Field Associate Engineer to perform basic to moderate engineering design, field investigations, and report preparation for substation equipment such as GIS, breakers, transformers, and switchgear.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering with 2 years of related experience; PE preferred. You will provide 24-hour emergency support and work at the 4 Irving Pl Headquarters in New York.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 2 years of relevant work experience, including 1 year of engineering experience.
• Preferred: Electrical Engineering specialization with 2 years in substation equipment rating, application, specification, operation, and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance during commissioning, construction and maintenance of major substation electrical equipment.
• Provide field support to substation operations and perform root cause analysis of failures.
• Drive projects independently and interface with equipment manufacturers and industry standards.
• Prepare operating, maintenance, and test procedures during projects.
• Develop scoping documents, concept reviews, and design field walks.
• Provide input for equipment health indices and planned replacements.
• Prepare field evaluation/analysis reports and test procedures for commissioning or post-repair works.
• Provide 24-hour support for system emergencies as part of Engineering Duty Roster.
