Job summary

Ampirical in Covington, LA is seeking a Project Engineer to support EPC substations design, protection and control. You'll be the main interface between field and design teams, ensuring adherence to Ampirical’s standards and timely project execution.

The ideal candidate has a PE license or 9+ years of experience without one, ABET Electrical Engineering degree, and proven utility project experience; strong communication and travel readiness (up to 10%).

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited university degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE preferred).
• Minimum of 7 years' experience with PE license, or 9+ years without PE.
• Proven track record in the utility industry with EPC projects and protection and control.
• Experience with complex engineering projects and client interaction.
• Strong communication and professional interaction with clients and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Be the main contact for questions during estimating, construction and testing phases.
• Maintain relationships with alliance clients and respond promptly to inquiries.
• Thorough design and construction experience for utility substations (MV through EHV) focusing on protection and control.
• Review engineering estimates and subcontractor quotes for accuracy.
• Lead pre-construction design package reviews and site walks.
• Support proposal development, schedules and bills of materials.
• Perform quality reviews of engineering work and ensure on-time delivery.
• Travel to meet with clients and conduct professional meetings (10%).
