Job summary

Dashiell is seeking a Pre-Construction Engineer in Houston, TX, to support early engineering efforts for substation EPC projects. You will develop preliminary deliverables, perform scope and risk analyses, and coordinate with internal teams to define constructability and pursuit strategies.

The role requires a PE license, 4–8+ years of power engineering experience, and familiarity with NEC/NESC/NEMA/IEEE/ANSI standards. Travel to job sites and multi-discipline collaboration are involved.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• PE license required; able to obtain license within one year if not already.
• 4–8+ years of power engineering and substation EPC design experience.
• Experience supporting proposals, estimates, or Pre-Construction deliverables.
• Field rotation/field experience in substations is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of AC/DC fundamentals and three-phase power systems.
• Familiarity with per-unit mathematics and symmetrical components.
• Knowledge of NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
• Proficiency with common software and document management systems.

Responsibilities

• Create preliminary engineering documents to support proposals and estimates.
• Develop SLDs, GA concepts, grounding/conduit plans, and wiring docs for pursuit needs.
• Generate bills of materials and incorporate field/customer markups.
• Provide engineering support for scoping, estimating, and Pre-Construction tasks.
• Coordinate with Construction and Purchasing for readiness and constructability.
