Job summary

B19 Consulting is seeking an experienced Substation Engineering Leader to drive the design and delivery of HV/EHV projects across California. You will lead a team of engineers and designers, oversee project budgets and schedules, and mentor staff while building strong client relationships with utilities, developers and data centers.

You will shape the direction of the regional team, contribute to proposals, and serve as the technical authority on complex substation engineering initiatives,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Extensive HV/EHV substation engineering experience with strong physical design background.
• Experience delivering detailed engineering packages for utility-scale substations.
• Strong understanding of substation equipment, grounding systems, electrical clearances and standards.
• Previous experience leading engineering teams, mentoring technical staff or managing multidisciplinary projects.
• Experience working with electric utilities, engineering consultancies, EPC contractors or energy developers.
• Strong project management, communication and client relationship skills.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Previous involvement in business development, client management or engineering team growth would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering design and technical delivery of HV and EHV substation projects from concept through construction support.
• Manage substation physical design activities including layouts, diagrams, grounding, routing and equipment specs.
• Build and mentor a team of substation engineers, designers and specialists.

Job description

We are partnering with an established engineering consultancy seeking an experienced Substation Engineering Leader to support the expansion of its power delivery operations across California.

This position offers an opportunity to take a leading role in the growth of a regional engineering team, overseeing the design and delivery of complex high voltage substation projects for electric utilities, renewable energy developers, and data center clients.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with people leadership, project management and client development capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering design and technical delivery of HV and EHV substation projects from initial concept through detailed design and construction support.

• Build, develop and mentor a team of substation engineers, designers and technical specialists.
