Position Overview

Kiewit Power Engineers has an immediate opening for a motivated Substation Engineer to join our growing Substation team in the Power Delivery department. As part of this team of highly specialized design professionals, you will support a variety of substation, transmission, and distribution projects ranging from 12kV to 500kV, including engineering detailed design and Engineer, Procure, Construct (EPC) projects for clients across the country.

Location

The ideal candidate would be based in The Woodlands or Energy Corridor in Houston, TX. Opportunities are also available in Dallas-Fort Worth, TX.

Responsibilities

• Work with project teams to create design documents and drawings, including one and three-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, communications diagrams, wiring diagrams, substation layout plans, sections, and details, incorporating mark-ups for built drawings.
• Develop specifications for procurement, installation, and testing of substation equipment.
• Use engineering software to complete tasks such as ground grid design, equipment sizing, relay coordination, and electrical studies.
• Coordinate project activities with project leads, customer representatives, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• At least 3 years of engineering-related experience.
• Licensed Professional Engineer preferred.
• Knowledge of standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI.
• Strong communication skills; fluent in English.
