Substation Engineer – Intermediate/Senior

Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an Electrical Engineer to support installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of system components for internal projects in the Novi, MI area. You will prepare estimates, drawings, and specifications, and lead design reviews for substation and SCADA systems.

We value hands-on problem solving, strong communication, and the ability to multitask in a team environment. Power system coursework and utility experience are preferred. Visa sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, major in Electrical Engineering or relevant equivalent experience and/or education
• Minimum two years of related work experience for Intermediate Engineer level
• Minimum five years of related work experience for Senior Engineer level
• Power system coursework preferred for electrical engineering majors
• Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards
• Utility experience preferred
• Sound analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to multitask and work under minimal supervision in a team environment
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access
• Ability to learn and utilize job-specific software
• Authorization to work in the United States for any employer
• ITC does not sponsor employment visas, including H-1B or TN visas

Responsibilities

• Create designs for substation installations, protective relaying systems, relay settings, and SCADA systems, with review by Senior Engineers
• Collaborate with engineers and departments on consulting, project management, resource organization, and maintenance
• Generate internal and external reports on facets of the transmission system
• Attend meetings and training sessions to increase professional knowledge and skills
