Job summary

GFT seeks a Substation Engineer to lead or support utility and power substation projects across multiple locations: Kansas City, MO; Raleigh, NC; Dallas, TX; Houston, TX; and Tampa, FL. You will develop layouts, one lines, grounding, raceways, and equipment specifications for new and existing substations, collaborating across offices to pursue regional and national projects.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, a PE license or on path to licensure, and 3+ years in

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
PE license or on track to licensure.
3+ years in design, engineering and project management in power/utility.
Experience leading or supporting substation projects 34.5 kV to 500 kV.
Experience with MS Project or similar for scope, schedule and budget.
Design experience in high voltage substations and distribution.
Ability to pursue regional/national power delivery projects and proposals.

Responsibilities

Develop substation layouts including plans, elevations, grounding, raceways, and cable lists.
Create substation one-lines, DC/AC power systems, SCADA and relay layouts.
Prepare calculations and client-facing reports.
Prepare equipment specifications for substation equipment and construction.
Collaborate across offices to win projects and expand GFT’s presence.
Build client relationships across disciplines and offices.
Assist in proposals, bids, reports and presentations.
