Job Details

Build your future in our Substation Engineering group as a Substation or Senior Substation engineer. In this role, you will be a key contributor in the design and development of utility substation engineering design packages. These packages include one‑line and three‑line diagrams, wiring diagrams, AC/DC elementary schematics, circuit schedules, logic and operating diagrams, and related deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Substation Physical Engineering, Relay Settings, and other internal teams to ensure alignment and design concurrence
• Develop complete P&C engineering design packages for protective relaying and communications systems, including one‑line and three‑line diagrams, AC and DC schematics, logic and functional diagrams, panel layouts, control house layouts, wiring and connection diagrams, interconnection diagrams, equipment specifications, and bills of materials
• Prepare SCADA design packages, including input/output lists and point data sheets
• Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to drafters, engineering technicians, and junior engineers
• Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with current and prospective clients
• Present technical solutions clearly and confidently to customers, addressing questions and concerns in real time
• Participate in client meetings and job site visits to gather or present engineering and design information
• Execute assignments independently, with general direction provided by the Manager of Engineering and/or Lead Engineer for complex or non-routine projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with a power systems focus; a master’s degree may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
• International engineering degrees will be considered
• Minimum of 3 years of experience developing complete utility substation engineering design packages, including AC one-line and three-line diagrams, DC schematics, logic and functional diagrams, panel layouts, interconnection diagrams, equipment specifications, and bills of materials
• Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) license required, with an interest in pursuing (or existing) Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Experience with physical substation design
• Commitment to continuing education and professional licensure
