Job summary

HDR is seeking a Substation Physical Electrical Engineering Intern to gain hands-on experience in the physical design of electrical substations and related engineering work. The role offers mentorship under project leads and exposure to real-world power systems challenges.

As an intern, you will create/modify substation drawings, perform AC/DC calculations, and learn industry-standard tools while contributing to procurement and project execution efforts.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
• Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Responsibilities

• Focus on the Physical design of electrical substations.
• Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a Project Lead or Project Manager.
• Create/modify substation physical drawings including creating markups, specification of major equipment, and assisting with procurement of equipment.
• Apply industry standard engineering tools, techniques and procedures.
• Complete AC/DC System calculations based on current/future load.
• Perform other duties as needed.
