Job summary

HDR is seeking a Substation Electrical Engineering Intern - Controls to gain real-world experience in protection and controls within substation design. You will create and modify wiring diagrams and schematics under the supervision of engineers and project managers, contributing to AC/DC system calculations and project documentation.

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide real-world experience on exciting projects.
  • Engage with mentoring programs for new graduates and professionals.
  • Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Perform assignments under supervision of a professional engineer or project manager.
  • Focus on Protection & Controls (P&C) engineering within substation design.
  • Create/modify substation wiring diagrams and control schematics per project scope.
  • Complete AC/DC system calculations based on current and future load.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Substation Electrical Engineering Intern, we'll count on you to:

  • Offer real-world experience on exciting projects
  • Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs
  • Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures
  • Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional engineer or Project Manager
  • Focus on Protection & Controls (P&C) engineering within substation design.
  • Create/modify substation wiring diagrams and control schematics according to project scope.
  • Complete AC/DC system calculations based on current/future load.
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
  • Preference given to local candidates
Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
  • Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
