Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Substation Associate Electrical Engineer in San Diego, CA, to support the design, development, and construction of substations within the Power & Energy Substation Team. You will assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting for diverse projects across utilities and public sectors.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and 1–3 years of relevant experience, with proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD Electrical and ETAP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 1–3 years of relevant post-education electrical engineering experience.
• Familiarity with design software and applicable codes and standards.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams and occasional travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data for procurement packages and design reviews.
• Design and lay out substation components, diagrams, layouts, grounding, and protections.
• Write technical reports and documentation with calculations, sketches, and spreadsheets.
• Support senior engineers with research and recommendations on components and field equipment.
• Develop electrical calculations for loads, feeder sizing, voltage drop, and lighting circuits.
