Job summary

Kimley-Horn's Phoenix office is seeking an Electrical Engineering Analyst with 2+ years of design experience to join the Power Delivery team. This role focuses on substation projects and electrical system design for renewable generation, energy storage, and utility-scale facilities.

You will contribute to project specifications, cost estimates, and cross-functional collaboration while preparing reports and design documents. Excellent communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of design experience in electrical engineering specifically in substation design.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; advanced degrees are a plus.
  • Holds Engineer-In-Training (EIT), Engineer Intern (EI), or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code, NFPA codes/standards, and energy codes.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD; BIM (Autodesk Revit) experience is a plus.
  • Power analyses (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, device coordination) in SKM or ETAP.
  • Strong verbal and written communication; able to work independently or in a team.

Overview

Kimley-Horn's Phoenix, (AZ) office is seeking an Electrical Engineering Analyst with 2+ years of experience to join their Power Delivery team.

Responsibilities
  • Design of complex electrical systems for renewable generation, energy storage, and utility-scale substation projects
  • Participate on project teams in an active production role
  • Participate in project meetings internally and externally with clients
  • Preparation of project specifications
  • Preparation of electrical construction cost estimates
  • Daily interaction and collaboration on cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines
  • Coordination and verification of as-built drawings
  • Perform quality work that promotes client retention
  • Responsible for the development of reports and design documents, including electrical design plans, equipment selection, solar system sizing, and power analyses.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (advanced degrees are a plus)
