Job summary

ICF is seeking a Substation P&C Designer to work on relay and protection and control projects for high voltage substations (12kV-500kV). This remote US position reports to the Electrical Project Lead and emphasizes quality deliverables and client-focused service.

The role involves designing protections, one-line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, SCADA diagrams, and coordinating with other disciplines, vendors, and QA/QC processes while pursuing continuous

• Substation design experience required.
• 3+ years wiring design experience.
• 3+ years experience with CAD tools: Bluebeam/AutoCAD/Inventor/MicroStation.

Responsibilities

• Design and prepare Protection and Control Drawings for substations.
• Create Substation Relay One Lines and Three Lines.
• Develop AC/DC Schematics.
• Prepare Substation Panel Layouts.
• Create Wiring Diagrams and Cable Schedules.
• Draft SCADA and Communication Diagrams.
• Produce Point-to-Point Wiring Diagrams.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure quality deliverables.
• Incorporate vendor information into designs.
• Apply client standards to work.
• Follow QA/QC processes on all design packages.
• Pursue continuous improvement in engineering knowledge and performance.

What You Will Be Doing

• Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the design and preparation of the following Protection and Control Drawings:
  • Substation Relay One Lines and Three Lines
  • AC/DC Schematics
  • Substation Panel Layouts
  • Substation Wiring Diagram and Cable Schedule
  • SCADA and Communication Diagrams
  • Point to Point Wiring Diagrams
• Coordination with physical, settings, and drafting disciplines to ensure quality deliverables
• Interpret and incorporate vendor information into design deliverables
• Apply client standards related to the work
• Perform/ensure company's Quality assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes are being followed on all design packages
• Continuous improvement of job-related engineering, technical and professional knowledge, skills, and performance

What We Need You To Have (minimum Qualifications)

• AA or High School Diploma
• Experience with substation (transmission) design
• 3+ years of detailed wiring design experience, developing single lines, schematics and relay panels
• 3+ years of experience working with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Inventor, and MicroStation

What We Would Like You To Have (preferred Skills)

• Understanding of AC/DC control diagrams to accurately perform point to point wiring requirements
• Ability to assist lead engineers with initial design requirements
• Advanced user of Microsoft products, specifically Excel, and Word
• Knowledge of the practical application of industry standards such as: NEC, NESC, IEEE and ANSI
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of technical plans, blueprints and drawings
