Job summary

Ameren Missouri is seeking a Substation Design Engineer to lead engineering design, project management, and technical support for Distribution, Sub-Transmission, and Customer Substations in central and eastern Missouri. Responsibilities include developing solutions, estimates, schedules, and preliminary designs for substation projects.

Ideal candidates hold a BS in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) with FE certification preferred and P.E.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering from an accredited university (Electrical or Mechanical preferred).
• FE certification preferred; P.E. license or commitment to pursue one in Missouri preferred.
• Five or more years of experience with substations or related equipment, design, operation or maintenance.
• Strong analytical, project management and communication skills required.
• Ability to lead and/or work effectively as part of a team; minimal travel.

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering solutions, cost estimates, schedules and preliminary designs for substation projects.
• Perform detailed design, writing and evaluating material and construction specifications.
• Coordinate drawing preparation with Drafting.
• Perform cost/benefit analysis for projects.
• Manage overall project cost and scheduling; coordinate related groups and real estate/purchasing/drafting/ Construction activities.
• Provide consulting services to other groups on substations and substation standards development.
• Collaborate with engineering firms contracted for Ameren substation design services.
