Job summary

The United Illuminating Company is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead substation design and related engineering activities for major capital projects in the Orange, CT area. You will ensure compliance with national and international standards and contribute to engineering standards and training initiatives.

The role reports to the Unit Manager and involves cross-functional teamwork, delivering detailed engineering, designs, and documentation while maintaining alignment with project budgets

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering required.
• 3 years minimum relevant experience.
• Experience with substation design and single-line diagrams.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Perform project detailed engineering, design calculations and budgeting across all phases.
• Maintain drawings including schematics and one-line diagrams.
• Specify equipment and assemble project documentation.
• Conduct electrical analyses and contribute to design improvements.
• Ensure designs satisfy codes and company standards.
• Collaborate across departments and work with project teams.
• Work independently with occasional supervision.
