Job summary

Linxon Americas in Raleigh, NC offers a Substation Design Engineer Intern position within Energy and Infrastructure Projects. The hybrid role combines hands-on design work with mentoring from experienced engineers on large, high‑voltage substation projects.

You will develop skills in electrical design, drawings, equipment research, and project execution across power systems and grid modernization initiatives.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with junior/senior standing (3rd or 4th year).
• Basic understanding of power systems and electrical engineering fundamentals.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation or other engineering design software is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the design and development of high-voltage substations and electrical infrastructure projects.
• Support the preparation of engineering drawings, layouts, schematics, and design documentation.
• Perform basic engineering calculations and technical analyses under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Assist with equipment research, specification development, and selection activities.
• Participate in design reviews and interdisciplinary coordination meetings.
• Support protection and control, physical layout, and electrical system study activities.
• Review technical specifications, engineering standards, and project requirements.
• Assist project teams during engineering, procurement, and construction phases as needed.
• Contribute to engineering quality initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
• Complete assigned technical tasks while gaining exposure to industry best practices.
