Job summary

Westwood Professional Services is seeking a Director, Substations to lead the execution performance and operational discipline across the Substation business unit. You will drive portfolio delivery, utilization, backlog conversion, and forecast accuracy while standardizing processes across offices and teams.

The role requires 10+ years in utility substation engineering and project delivery, a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, and a PE license.

Qualifications

• Must have strong leadership and delivery management capabilities.
• Experience coordinating multi-office teams and complex substation projects.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and margins.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operational oversight of the Substation project portfolio.
• Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and at or above target margins.
• Standardize execution processes and project controls across offices.
• Monitor schedule performance, cost tracking, and scope adherence.
• Implement corrective action plans for underperforming projects.
• Reduce rework and improve delivery predictability.
• Ensure alignment between staffing plans and active project workload.
• Oversee design disciplines and ensure compliance with standards (NESC, IEEE, NEC).
• Champion innovation and automation within substation workflows.
• Maintain quality management framework and review technical risks on projects.
• Drive KPIs including margin, utilization, and profitability for Substation portfolio.
• Manage delivery risk, change control, and recovery strategies for distressed projects.
• Balance resources across offices and establish performance metrics for Engineering Managers.
• Establish dashboards tracking schedule, cost, and margin.
