Job summary

Puget Sound Energy is seeking an Engineer III - Substation Controls to design control systems for high-voltage substations, participate in brownfield and greenfield projects, and coordinate with relay engineering and protection teams. The role includes field support, production of detailed schematics and wiring diagrams, and ensuring safe, compliant operation of the grid.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree or PE license in electrical, mechanical, civil or other engineering field; PE license may replace degree.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and modify guidelines for existing problems or processes.
• Prepare complex designs, standards, studies and analyses.
• Provide detailed design reviews of technical documents.
• Prepare cost estimates and evaluations for project alternatives with minimal supervision.
• Plan and develop project budgets with appropriate documentation.
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and design, operation, and maintenance requirements.
• Identify weaknesses and initiate corrective action.
• Document and share work to strengthen engineering skills within the department.
• Support emergency response work as needed.
• May lead or coordinate junior engineers and contractors.
