Job summary

Dashiell, a leading provider of technical and construction services, has a Civil Structural Designer role based in Houston, TX. The position requires five years of substation design experience and expertise with AutoCAD and structural drafting.

You will produce high voltage layouts, BOMs, and detailing, while collaborating with engineers and field teams. Occasional travel and adherence to safety standards are expected in this role.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of experience in structural substation design or related field.
• Associate’s Degree in Drafting & Design preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD 2010 or newer required.
• Knowledge of structural drafting for steel structures and concrete foundations.
• Basic knowledge of civil/structural codes and standards (AISC, ACI).
• Proficient with CAD programs and Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Produce new drawings from standards and project examples.
• Create high voltage substation layouts and elevations from one-line drawings.
• Produce conduit and grounding drawings.
• Calculate cable lengths, conduit fill, and quantities.
• Create substation bill of materials with part numbers and quantities.
• Meet proposal and project schedules.
• Oversee junior drafters and verify work quality.
• Research information from catalogs, specifications, and standards.
• Travel as required for projects and training.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
