Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Civil Engineer to perform civil engineering design for substation, utility, and infrastructure projects. You will support site development, grading, drainage, and foundations while coordinating with electrical, structural, and project management teams.

Responsibilities include preparing drawings, calculations, and technical documentation, reviewing packages for accuracy, and aiding in permitting and field data collection. Strong communication and QA/QC are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Professional civil engineering design experience, preferably supporting utility, substation, energy, or infrastructure projects.
• Experience developing and reviewing drawings, layouts, calculations, and design packages.
• Ability to develop engineering markups and communicate design requirements to CAD staff.
• Experience coordinating civil design with other engineering disciplines.
• Understanding of grading, drainage, site development, foundations, and general civil/site design principles.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and/or similar software.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam or similar engineering review tools.
• Strong QA/QC and construction documentation understanding.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Review drawings and engineering packages for accuracy, quality, constructability, and compliance.
• Coordinate civil design with electrical, structural, P&C, construction, and project management teams.
• Support site visits and acquisition of field measurements and existing-condition information.
• Provide engineering support during construction and resolve field design issues.
• Review construction activities for conformance with plans and specs.
• Assist in preparation of equipment/material specifications and technical evaluations.
• Support permitting and coordination with agencies and stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and QA/QC standards.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Professional experience in civil engineering design, preferably supporting utility, power, substation, energy, or other infrastructure projects.
• Experience developing and reviewing engineering drawings, layouts, calculations, and design packages.
• Ability to develop engineering markups and effectively communicate design requirements to CAD/design personnel.
• Experience coordinating civil design with other engineering disciplines.
• Understanding of grading, drainage, site development, foundations, and general civil/site design principles.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and/or comparable engineering design software.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam or similar engineering review/collaboration tools.
• Strong understanding of engineering QA/QC and construction documentation.
