Job summary

Community Health Center Of Lubbock is seeking a Mental Health Therapist (Substance Abuse) to provide counseling for patients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders at the Main Clinic in Lubbock, TX. The role involves working within a clinical team, coordinating care, and educating patients and families about treatment options.

The successful candidate will hold a master’s degree in a related field and current Texas licensure, with preference for bilingual English/Spanish and

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Educational Psychology, or related field.
• Current license to practice as Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Texas.
• Three years’ experience in mental health and substance use services preferred.
• English required; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to obtain information and consult with other professionals to understand patient status.
• Determine relationship between substance use, socio-economic factors and personality traits.
• Design and tailor treatment and rehabilitation programs based on individual needs.
• Enter case history and progress notes within three-day sign-on; modify plan as needed.
• Educate family members on recovery support and roles.
