Job summary

CHCL in Texas is seeking a Mental Health Therapist (Substance Abuse) to provide integrated counseling for individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. The role involves working with a clinical team and educating patients and families about treatment options and recovery strategies.

Responsibilities include interviewing clients, designing tailored treatment plans, documenting notes within three days, educating families, and engaging in performance improvement

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Educational Psychology, or related field.
• Current license to practice as Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Texas.
• Three years’ experience in mental health and substance use services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide mental health and substance use counseling to patients with co-occurring disorders.
• Meet with clients to obtain history and collaborate with professionals to assess status.
• Design individualized treatment plans based on addiction and mental health knowledge.
• Enter case notes and progress updates within three days of encounters.
• Meet with families to educate on recovery support and role they can play.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and evaluate counseling methods.
