Job summary

BayMark Health Services seeks a compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to guide patients through medically assisted programs and teach coping strategies for opioid recovery. The role includes group and individual sessions, crisis support, and progress evaluation, with collaboration across doctors, nurses, and therapists.

Responsibilities cover assessments, treatment planning, direct counseling, discharge planning, and aftercare.

Qualifications

• Minimum HS Diploma or higher in related field.
• Experience with chemically dependent individuals preferred.
• Licensure such as LADC, LCMHC, LICSW, MLADC desirable.
• Demonstrates a positive, non-judgmental attitude toward patients.
• Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial assessments and determine service eligibility.
• Develop and review initial treatment plans with each patient.
• Provide individual and group counseling; coordinate services throughout treatment.
• Complete bio-psychosocial assessments.
• Involve families in the recovery process when possible.
• Develop and participate in patient teaching projects and aftercare plans.
• Address patient grievances and complete discharge paperwork.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor Needed!

Position Overview

Substance abuse counselor will be in charge with assisting patients through medically assisting programs and offering techniques for handling opioid addiction. Counselor conducts group sessions and individual sessions to assist with crisis management and coping strategies. Additionally, counselor will evaluate patients’ progress during therapy. Substance abuse counselors may also need to collaborate with doctors, nurses and therapists for patients’ therapy and treatment for best overall outcome.

Responsibilities

• Conducts individual initial assessment and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determination
• Facilitates, establishes and reviews with each patient the initial treatment plan
• Provide individual and group counseling services; direct service hours at regularly scheduled intervals; coordinate all services throughout treatment.
• Completes Bio-psychosocial assessment.
• Involve families and significant others in patient’s recovery process whenever possible
• Develops and participates in individual or group patient teaching projects
• Respond, as needed, to patient grievances and complaints.
• Develop aftercare plans and discharge plans. Completes all discharge paperwork.
• Other related duties as determined by supervisor

Qualifications
