Job summary

Samaritan Daytop Village, Inc. is seeking a Substance Use Counselor to join the clinical team. You will manage a caseload of patients with substance use disorders, providing individual and group counseling, assessments, and coordinated services in alignment with our mission.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed, patient-centered care, documentation accuracy, and collaboration with the treatment team to support recovery and access to appropriate levels of care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• OASAS CASAC-T or CASAC Certification.
• 1–2 years of related SUD experience, preferably in opioid treatment.
• Knowledge of Trauma-Informed Care and related treatment.
• Knowledge of co-occurring disorders.
• Knowledge of personnel and client information laws.

Responsibilities

• Develops treatment plans with the Program Director or Clinical Supervisor.
• Uses a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach with patients and treatment team.
• Provides clinical consultation to referrals, mentors, and families.
• Engages patients in decision-making and explains care levels.
• Collects and reviews referral information and coordinates scheduling.
• Refers patients to appropriate programs to meet treatment needs.
• Assists with scheduling admissions or first appointments.
