Job summary

MedMark Treatment Centers in Maryland is seeking a compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to guide patients through medically assisted programs, conduct group and individual sessions, and teach crisis management and coping strategies.

You will evaluate patient progress, work with doctors, nurses and therapists, and help develop treatment and aftercare plans. A Maryland license or certification is required along with a clean background check; salary is hourly, with overtime eligibility.

Qualifications

• Certification or license is required in Maryland (various approved credentials).
• Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screen

Responsibilities

• Conducts individual initial assessment and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determination
• Involve families and significant others in patient’s recovery process whenever possible
• Facilitates, establishes and reviews with each patient the initial treatment plan
• Respond, as needed, to patient grievances and complaints
• Develop aftercare plans and discharge plans
• Other related duties as determined by supervisor
