Job summary

Meharry Medical College in Nashville seeks a Behavioral Health Therapist to provide evidence-based substance use counseling, therapy, case management, and harm reduction education to clinic patients. Responsibilities include assessment, treatment planning, referral, discharge planning, and thorough documentation in EHR and TN-WITS.

You will facilitate groups, coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams, telehealth when needed, and maintain compliance with billing and reporting.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, behavioral health, or related field.
• Licensed LADAC II or Tennessee licensure eligibility required.
• Minimum of two years of relevant counseling, case management, or substance use treatment experience.
• Experience with addiction medicine, integrated behavioral health, or outpatient clinics preferred.
• Experience serving underserved or high-risk populations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual substance use counseling, relapse prevention, and supportive counseling using evidence-based modalities.
• Facilitate group counseling, psychoeducation, and skills-based interventions.
• Enter and maintain accurate patient and service information in TN-WITS and EHR systems for compliance and reporting.
• Coordinate referrals and link patients to internal and external providers and community resources.
• Support telehealth services as needed and collaborate with clinic staff and external providers.
