Job summary

Acadia Healthcare's Broad Street Comprehensive Treatment Center in Richmond, VA is seeking a Substance Use Counselor to support patients with opioid use disorder through individual and group counseling, care coordination, and crisis intervention in a outpatient MAT program.

This full-time role requires CSAC-R/CSAC eligibility, a counseling degree, and experience in addiction services. The schedule runs 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM, with benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and CEU access.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ counseling or social services experience.
• MS in counseling or related field with 1 year professional work experience.
• Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings.
• Familiarity with MAT (methadone, buprenorphine, naltrexone).
• Experience in individual and group counseling for substance use.
• Knowledge of CBT, MI, relapse prevention techniques.
• Documentation of clinical notes and treatment plans per guidelines.
• Familiarity with state/federal regulatory standards.
• Experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality, compassionate guidance in both individual and group counseling sessions.
• Plan, oversee, facilitate and document patient's recovery.
• Co-facilitate assigned group or family sessions as needed.
• Ensure all documentation regarding patient care, treatment, and incidents is completed timely and in a clear, concise manner.
• Prepare individual treatment plans for each assigned patient.
• Initial assessments as well as follow up assessments.
• Evaluate patient needs and determine if referrals to other programs or facilities are needed.
• May plan for aftercare for assigned patients.
• Provide crisis intervention to patients, as needed.
• Provide case management duties for patients, ensuring individualized quality care as needed.
• Act as a liaison between referral sources and patients, as needed.
