Job summary

Alpharus Health is seeking a Substance Use Counselor at the Maryville Treatment Center to support clients with assessments, counseling, and care coordination. The role emphasizes a person-centered approach within a non-profit behavioral health setting.

Responsibilities include individual and group counseling, treatment planning, documentation, and ongoing progress tracking, with certifications required and potential for advancement to higher credentials.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certification as a Missouri Alcohol Drug Counselor (MAADC) required. Ability to obtain higher MSAPCB certification within 6 months of hire preferred.
• Must be able to obtain Missouri Department of Corrections clearance.

Responsibilities

• Completes comprehensive assessments of clients’ substance use history and treatment needs and develops individualized treatment plans.
• Provides individual and group counseling and may facilitate didactic groups.
• Documents treatment and discharge plans, and clients’ progress and responses to treatment; maintains related records and charts.
• Performs case management and contributes to client care monitoring.
