Job summary

Durham County Government seeks a licensed addiction counselor to provide counseling to clients developing cognitive, behavioral, and social skills as part of the treatment plan for substance use disorders. This is a professional role under general supervision.

The position is full-time, nonexempt and provisional with potential funding through Sept 29, 2028. It requires CADC/CCJP credentials with at least two years' clinical experience, and work with justice services populations in Durham County.

Qualifications

• Requires CADC or CCJP with at least two years of clinical experience.
• Licensed professionals with addiction/mental health credentials will be considered.
• Experience with assessment, treatment planning, and crisis intervention.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients develop cognitive, behavioral, social, and vocational skills as part of the treatment plan.
• Screen clients referred for addictive and/or psychological disorders; conduct intakes and assessments.
• Develop individual treatment plans; conduct counseling sessions; provide crisis intervention and referrals.
• Collaborate with community-based agencies to enhance services for clients in the community.
• Perform case management including record-keeping and reporting to the supervisor.
