Job summary

Better Path Community Outreach Center LLC is seeking a dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor (ADT, CAC, or higher) to join our team in Windsor Mill, MD. You will provide group, individual, and family counseling, develop treatment plans, and conduct ASAM assessments in accordance with COMAR and JCO regulations.

Responsibilities include maintaining caseloads, creating treatment plans within 30 days, and ensuring proper discharge planning.

Qualifications

  • Active Maryland certification or license: ADT, CSC-AD, CAC-AD, LGPC, LCPC, LGADC, LCADC, LGSW, or LCSW-C (Required)
  • Experience in substance use or mental health counseling preferred
  • Strong communication and documentation skills

  • Maintain an assigned caseload and complete psychosocial assessments within 5 days of admission.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans within 30 days and update every 30 days thereafter.
  • Facilitate daily group sessions and maintain accurate group notes.

  • Prepare discharge and aftercare plans ensuring continuity of care.
  • Maintain compliance with COMAR, JCO, and ethical standards.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor (ADT, CAC, or higher) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of substance use and co-occurring disorders and be committed to helping clients rebuild their lives through supportive and ethical care.

Counselors at Better Path provide group, individual, and family counseling, develop treatment plans, complete ASAM assessments, and maintain documentation in accordance with COMAR and JCO regulations. You’ll work collaboratively with our clinical and support teams to help clients achieve long-term stability and recovery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop individualized treatment plans within 30 days and complete updates every 30 days thereafter.
  • Facilitate daily group sessions and maintain accurate group notes.
  • Provide individual counseling and coordinate care in accordance with treatment goals.
  • Prepare discharge and aftercare plans, ensuring continuity of care and client follow-up.
  • Maintain compliance with COMAR, JCO, and ethical standards at all times.
Qualifications

  • Experience in substance use and/or mental health counseling preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.
