You will assist in delivering behavioral counseling to individuals with various addiction and co-occurring disorders, while learning assessment, planning, and crisis intervention under supervision. The internship emphasizes skill-building through comprehensive assessments, treatment planning, documentation, and aftercare.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in sociology, social work, arts, science, or related field.
• Complete transcripts of Catholic Charities DC approved training in alcohol and drug counseling.
• Intern must be eligible to practice as a substance use disorder student counselor.

Responsibilities

• Complete comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Conduct psychosocial evaluations and provide crisis counseling as needed.
• Maintain case records reflecting course of treatment and required documentation.
• Provide follow-up and aftercare planning services as needed.
• Attend staff meetings, supervisory conferences, and other clinical operations activities.
• Provide emergency services during work hours.
• Attend other duties as determined by the Clinical Director.
