Job summary

Creative Pathways Inc. in Washington, DC seeks a Certified Addiction Counselor to provide outpatient substance abuse treatment services.

You will counsel individuals facing addiction to drugs, alcohol, sex, gambling, food, and related issues and teach coping skills. The role involves completing assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, psychosocial evaluations, crisis counseling, and ensuring proper documentation and aftercare planning.

Qualifications

• Graduate or post graduate degree in sociology, social work, arts or related field.
• Certification in alcohol and drug counseling.
• Master's degree in social work, arts or science required by counseling centers and hospitals.
• License to practice as a substance abuse counselor is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Complete comprehensive assessments, individualized treatment plans, referral and education services.
• Conduct psychosocial evaluations and provide therapeutic interventions including crisis counseling.
• Evaluate client and family systems and assess functioning within work, family and daily routines.
• Maintain case records to reflect course of treatment and provide documentation.
• Provide follow-up and aftercare planning services and discharge inactive clients when appropriate.
• Provide emergency services during work hours and after hours as assigned.
• Attend staff meetings and supervisory conferences to ensure smooth clinical operations.
• Other duties as determined by the Clinical Director.
