Job summary

Hennepin Healthcare is seeking an Alcohol and Drug Counselor Intern to support multidisciplinary treatment teams at the Minneapolis Downtown Campus. The role focuses on experiential learning while pursuing BBHT licensure, under weekly supervision of a licensed counselor.

You must be enrolled in a qualifying program with a learning agreement and progress toward required internship hours to meet degree requirements.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in an educational institution with signed learning agreement.
• Active progress toward internship hours for degree requirements.
• An approved equivalent combination of education and experience may apply.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial interviews and recommend rehabilitative services.
• Perform screenings and brief interventions.
• Coordinate care with medical and treatment teams.
• Utilize community resources for referrals and assistance.
• Counsel family members as needed.
• Participate in intakes, orientations, and counseling.
• Lead educational classes and group meetings within treatment services.
• Conduct various individual and group therapies within treatment services.
• Attend weekly supervision for a minimum of 1 hour.
• Other duties as assigned.
