Qualifications

  • Registered or Certified Substance Use Disorder Counselor.
  • Registered with CCAPP/CAADE/CADPT; fully credentialed preferred.
  • Experience completing ASAM assessments.
  • Documented in EMR system with appropriate and efficient documentation.
  • Proficient in HIPAA regulations and medical terminology.
  • Experience with discharge planning and medical records.
  • Background in inpatient care settings.

Job Status: Regular Full Time Reports To: Clinical Director

Costa Mesa Detox and its staff are committed to providing exceptional clinical care for our clients. Our clinical team prioritizes transformative individualized care by assisting participants in arresting the process of addiction, and reintegrating back in to life. The Case Manager position involves providing comprehensive case management services to individuals in need, with a focus on family relationships, crisis management, and behavioral health support. The role requires working closely with clients and their families to address their needs and connect them with appropriate resources.

Qualifications
  • Registered or Certified Substance Use Disorder Counselor
  • required - registered with CCAPP/ CAADE/or CADPT. Fully credentialed preferred
  • Experience in completing ASAM assessments
  • Appropriate and efficient documentation in EMR system
  • Proficient in HIPAA regulations and medical terminology
  • Experience with discharge planning and medical records
  • Conduct assessments and develop individualized care plans based on client needs
  • Background in inpatient care settings
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations
  • Experience in addiction counseling
  • Preferred experience with Kipu EMR
  • Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to engage clients and support positive outcomes
  • Well versed in comprehensive treatment and discharge planning

Essential Functions:
  • Uphold and enforce Casa Mesa Detox standards, policies and procedures, resident rights, and professional code of ethics and conduct.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of TAP21 Counselor Competencies.
  • Ability to utilize agency comprehensive assessment tools in KIPU (Biopsychosocial, Initial Treatment Plan, Discharge Planning upon admission).
  • Identify and prioritize individual needs and problems of the client.
  • Prepare comprehensive interpretive clinical summaries (as seen in KIPU).
  • Develop person-centered care plans, including prioritized problem lists, SNAP, resident-reported goals, measurable and achievable objectives, and interventions.
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions utilizing Evidence Based Practices.
  • Document resident progress toward treatment plan goals and objectives in SOAP progress notes.
  • Prepare effective care level step-down Transition notes.
  • Develop solid discharge plans and summaries for assigned caseload.
  • Prepare clinical documentation accurately and within agency time frames.
  • Intervene during crisis intervention situations.
  • Cooperate with health insurance clinical utilization reviews. Provide daily Progress Notes and detailed Clinical Notes to assist with UR’s.
  • Participate in weekly Clinical Treatment team meetings with other team members as needed.
  • Participate in the agency’s Orientation training, staff meetings, and in-service training.
  • Provide accurate assessment and referral when appropriate. Provide information to Probation Officers, Lawyers and Spouses/Family Members on the resident’s behalf.
  • Provide appropriate treatment interventions relative to the specific needs of each resident.
  • Provide for discharge planning, contacting referring agency as needed.
  • Adhere to code of ethics, legal aspects of clinical practice, professional standards, duty to warn, abuse and neglect reporting policies and procedures, and exercise professionalism at all times.
  • Exercise awareness in cultural competency, resident satisfaction, quality of services, resident needs, and overall health and safety staff and residents.
Competencies:
  • Ability to perform duties as a counselor/therapist according to TAP21 “Addiction Counseling Competencies” with respect to screening, assessment, individualized treatment planning, crisis intervention, group and individual counseling, case management, referral, discharge summaries, clinical documentation, and professional ethics.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with subordinate staff, supervisors, utilization review, managed health care clinicians, medical and mental health professionals.
  • Ability to positively interact and develop rapport with residents and their families.
Education:
  • Preferred Drug and Alcohol Counseling Certification
  • Registered as an AOD intern or a RADT-1 Intern having completed all required clinical hours desired
Experience:
  • 1-2 years experience in substance abuse and mental health or equivalent human services work experience preferred.
  • Experience in co-occurring disorders treatment a plus
  • Experience in an inpatient setting required
Computer Skills:
  • Computer Literacy in doc, spreadsheet, and email.
  • Proficiency in KIPU Systems electronic medical record preferred
Certificates & Licenses:
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • CPR/First AID
  • Drug and Alcohol Counseling Credential or Internship Preferred
