Job summary

Carolina Therapeutic Services First is seeking a Substance Use Professional to provide assessments and education within CST services in a hybrid Charlotte-area setting. You will support recovery, coordinate with healthcare providers, and ensure timely documentation and compliant billing practices.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed, person-centered care, maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality, and ongoing credential maintenance. Immediate hire with flexible scheduling available.

Qualifications

  • Appropriate education and substance abuse credential/licensure required for assigned services.
  • Experience working with individuals with substance use or behavioral health needs preferred.
  • Knowledge of recovery and substance use treatment resources.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

  • Ability to provide services in community-based settings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide substance use assessments and support within the scope of credentials.
  • Provide substance use education and counseling as authorized.
  • Assist clients with recovery and relapse prevention.
  • Develop and support person-centered goals.
  • Participate in CST team meetings and case reviews.

  • Assist with crisis intervention and safety planning.

The Substance Abuse Professional provides substance use support and services to individuals receiving Community Support Team (CST) services. The position works as part of the CST team to help individuals improve their recovery, stability, independence, and overall well-being.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide substance use assessments and support within the scope of credentials.
  • Provide substance use education and counseling as authorized.
  • Assist clients with recovery and relapse prevention.
  • Develop and support person-centered goals.

Documentation Responsibilities

The Substance Abuse Professional is responsible for completing:

  • Progress notes
  • Assessments
  • Treatment plan documentation
  • Service plan updates
  • Crisis documentation
  • Referral and care coordination documentation
  • Other required client records

All documentation must accurately support the services provided.

Client Safety

The Substance Abuse Professional must:

  • Follow client safety and crisis plans.
  • Report suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
  • Report significant safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Contact emergency services when there is an immediate danger to life or safety.
  • Follow CTSF incident reporting procedures.
Qualifications
