GEO provides education programs focused on drug and alcohol abuse and cognitive behavior within a correctional context. The role involves organizing classes, delivering information in classroom-like environments, and guiding group counseling sessions.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, with a bachelor’s degree preferred, and be able to obtain T4C certification within three months. Strong communication and team collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area preferred.
  • Ability to obtain certification in Thinking for Change (T4C) within three months of employment.
  • Relevant teaching or counseling experience in a correctional setting preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the Twelve Step Program of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner in both individual and group counseling settings.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a team of professionals and have the ability to implement team strategy approaches to work assignments.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.

Responsibilities

Summary

This position organizes and facilitates programs to provide education for conditions and problems relating to drug and alcohol abuse and cognitive behavior.
