Job summary

Pinnacle Treatment Centers is seeking a Counselor to support the recovery journey of patients through evidence-based treatment and compassionate care. The role involves administering assessments, developing treatment plans, and guiding patients through program phases within a multidisciplinary team.

The position requires an Associate’s Degree or higher with relevant licensure (CAAC) and clinical experience in chemical dependency settings.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or higher in a related field and relevant licensure/certification.
• CAAC certification or enrollment in CADC track for future credentialing.
• Clinical practicum or paid/unpaid experience in chemical dependency settings preferred.
• Strong foundation in chemical dependency concepts and counseling techniques.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and licensure requirements.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient databases, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries per federal/state standards.
• Orient patients on program objectives, phase requirements, rules, and patient rights.
• Assess and place patients according to treatment phases and standards.
• Maintain and update clinical documentation and charts.
• Counsel patients in crisis and connect them with resources.
• Refer patients to appropriate external agencies when needed.
• Conduct treatment plan reviews and participate in case conferences.
• Stay informed about confidentiality, methadone treatment, and licensing requirements.
• Execute intakes, facilitate group counseling, and collect urine drug screens.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly reports and participate in supervision and training.

Education

Associate’s Degree

CAAC (Certified Associate Addiction Counselor)

Substance abuse counselors in training who are not CADC shall be enrolled in courses leading to certification as a CADC; in addition to in-service training and become credentialed within three years of the date of hire by the facility

Master's Degree or above from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in human services) or another related field with practicum in a health or human service agency, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with clinical specialty in the human services) or other related field and 1 year of clinical experience

Associate degree from an accredited college with a major chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with clinical specialty in the human services) or other related field and 1 year of clinical experience
