Management & Training Corporation (MTC) at the Walker-Sayle Unit in Breckenridge, Texas is seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor I. The role pays $19.00-$21.00 per hour, with full-time schedule Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, life insurance, disability, 401(k) and PTO.

The position requires TX licensure/certification (LCDC-I or CCJP-A) with potential licensing within five years, plus driver’s license and background checks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current LCDC-I license or CCJP-A certification in TX.
• Must obtain LCDC license or CCJP within five years of registration as Counselor Intern or CCJP-A.
• Valid Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Must complete CAT and annual in-service trainings and background checks.
• Maintain Counselor Intern status or CCJP-A certification for continued employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide substance abuse counseling and recovery skills training.
• Maintain a Therapeutic Community within the facility with correctional staff.
• Interview, screen, and evaluate offenders for program participation.
• Provide a comprehensive evaluation using a battery of valid tools.
• Participate in the Individual Treatment Plan based on assessment findings.
• Maintain offender records and submit reports and related documentation.
• Provide liaison to participants of training programs, workshops, and seminars.
• Implement follow-up and aftercare plans and connect to community resources.
