Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. seeks a Substance Abuse professional in Reading, PA to support curriculum, deliver didactic presentations, and provide individual and group counseling within a correctional or rehabilitation setting.

Responsibilities include selecting instructional materials, staying current on field developments, and maintaining partnerships with professional groups. Bachelor’s or Associate degree required, with related clinical experience.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, or related field and one (1) year clinical experience in a health or human service agency, OR An Associate Degree form an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing, or related field and two (2) years clinical experience in health or human service agency.
• Knowledge of the field of addictions or mental health counseling preferred.
• Required skills include: time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work overtime as requested by supervisor.
• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.

Responsibilities

• Provide relevant Substance Abuse information for class curriculum
• Facilitate didactic educational presentations, group counseling, and individual counseling sessions
• Select and recommend new instructional materials and programs for use in the substance abuse program
• Maintain knowledge of new developments in the field of substance abuse
• Maintain a collegian relationship with other substance abuse professionals, programs, and associations
• Complete required testing, assessment, and psychosocial history on incoming residents as required
• Participate in related training for substance abuse
