Job summary

Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry seeks a Substance Abuse Counselor to clinically assess and treat offenders. You will deliver education classes, conduct assessments, maintain records, and interact with community providers and security staff.

Applicants must hold a valid AZ license in addiction counseling or related field, and complete required background checks and TB testing. This on-site role supports pre-release planning and collaborative care within a correctional

Qualifications

• Must be licensed in Arizona as LIAC/LAAC/LPC/LAC/LCSW/LMSW or Psychologist.
• Pre-employment background check and drug test required.
• TB test required yearly after orientation.
• State employees must meet E-Verify.

Responsibilities

• Deliver substance abuse education classes and therapy groups.
• Conduct one-on-one clinical assessments and counseling sessions.
• Maintain clinical records and documentation.
• Participate in staffings and meetings.
• Develop and monitor individual treatment plans.
• Coordinate pre-release planning with case managers.
• Interact with community providers and security staff.
• Travel on state business as needed.
