Job summary

Medix is seeking a compassionate Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) on Vashon Island, WA. This full-time position offers a 4x10 schedule, with a dedicated shuttle between the ferry port and the clinic to support a convenient commute.

You will perform assessments, counseling, and case management for relatives and their families, integrating holistic care within a multidisciplinary team to promote long-term recovery and wellness.

Qualifications

  • Active Washington State SUDP license/certification.
  • Minimum of two years of clinical SUDP counseling experience.
  • 680 hours of required clinical exposure with potential for permanent hire.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct ASAM criteria assessments and develop service plans.
  • Provide individual and group SUD counseling to relatives and families.
  • Coordinate with SIHB services and external resources for referrals.
  • Maintain clinical documentation in compliance with WACs and HIPAA.

Reports To: SUD Clinical Supervisor

Pay Range: $29.00 – $36.00 / Hour

Schedule / Shift: Full-Time (4x10s Schedule)

Location: Vashon Island, Washington

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) to join our multidisciplinary behavioral health team. In this role, you will provide culturally sensitive SUD assessments, counseling, and case management services tailored to the needs of our relatives (patients) and their families. Operating under a holistic care model, you will integrate clinical expertise with community-focused support, helping relatives achieve long-term personal, social, and emotional recovery.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Assessments & Care Planning

  • Comprehensive Assessments: Perform ASAM criteria assessments evaluating personal history, substance use history, physical, social, psychological, and spiritual needs.
  • Service Planning: Develop, implement, and update culturally sensitive Individual Service Plans (ISP) for each assigned relative based on identified strengths and assessed needs.
  • Referral Management: Identify relative health and wellness needs, connecting them directly to internal SIHB services or external community resources.
  • Individual & Group Therapy: Conduct individual and group SUD counseling sessions for relatives and, where appropriate, their family members.
  • Rehabilitation Support: Assist relatives in scheduling, navigating, and actively participating in activities that promote personal, social, and emotional rehabilitation.
  • Community Re-Entry: Connect relatives with community resources for education, vocational training, employment, and ongoing recovery support.
  • Holistic Case Management: Provide comprehensive case management services to address the broader social determinants of health and overall wellness needs of relatives.
  • External Advocacy: Serve as a clinical liaison with courts, probation officers, social service agencies, and other external systems as required.
  • Clinical Records: Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation according to Washington Administrative Codes (WACs) and internal SIHB policies.
  • Privacy & Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality of behavioral health records, ensuring strict adherence to HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and Privacy Act regulations.
  • Licensure Maintenance: Maintain an active Washington State SUDP credential in good standing.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work under the supervision of the SUD Clinical Supervisor and collaborate seamlessly within an integrated, multidisciplinary clinical team.
  • Quality & Accreditation: Participate in internal quality improvement initiatives to support organizational goals, legal/regulatory compliance, and agency accreditation standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Active License: Valid, unencumbered Washington State Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) License/Certification.
  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience working as an SUDP counselor.
  • 680 Hours. Opportunity to convert to permanent hire after satisfactory completion of contract.

Pay:

$29 - $36 per hour (Based on experience)
