Job summary

BayMark Health Services in Durham, NC seeks a compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to support patients through medically assisted treatment and coping strategies. You will conduct individual and group sessions, assess progress, and collaborate with clinicians to optimize care.

The ideal candidate holds LCAS or CADC credentials, has MAT experience, and demonstrates empathy, adaptability and a non-judgmental approach to the diverse patient population in an outpatient setting.

Qualifications

• Requires LCAS or CADC credential in North Carolina.
• Experience with Medically Assisted Treatment (MAT) patients preferred.
• Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental attitude toward patients.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial assessments for service eligibility.
• Provide individual and group counseling; coordinate services.
• Involve families in recovery when possible.
• Develop and participate in patient teaching projects.
• Maintain progress notes and document outcomes.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor Needed!

Position Overview:

The Substance abuse counselor will be in charge with assisting patients through medically assisting programs and offering techniques for handling opioid use disorder. The counselor conducts group sessions and individual sessions to assist with crisis management and coping strategies. Additionally, counselors will evaluate patients’ progress during therapy. Substance abuse counselors may also need to collaborate with doctors, nurses and therapists for patients’ therapy and treatment for the best overall outcome.

Responsibilities:

• Conducts individual initial assessment and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determination
• Completes Bio-psychosocial assessment.
• Provide individual and group counseling services; direct service hours at regularly scheduled intervals; coordinate all services throughout treatment
• Involve families and significant others in patient’s recovery process whenever possible
• Develops and participates in individual or group patient teaching projects
• Other related duties as determined by supervisor

Qualifications:

• Must have a LCAS or CADC in the state of North Carolina
• Previous experience working with Medically Assisted Treatment addiction patients for at least one year preferred.
• Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward our patient population
• The ideal candidate will be personable, adaptable & coachable. Have the ability to identify with patients' struggle and have a passion for this career path!
• Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screen
