Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of WI & Upper MI is hiring a Substance Use Disorder Counselor for a new 50-bed residential program opening in Chippewa Falls, WI in 2026. The role focuses on individual and group counseling, assessments, treatment planning, and coordination of community supports within a recovery-oriented framework.

The position requires SAC-IT, SAC, or CSAC credentials and an associate degree (bachelor's preferred).

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in a human services or corrections-related field required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Valid Wisconsin SAC-IT, SAC, or CSAC credential(s).
• Knowledge of addiction, recovery, counseling, and case management principles.
• Experience with justice-involved or correctional populations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group substance use counseling services.
• Complete assessments, screenings, referrals, and treatment planning.
• Deliver case management and coordinate community support services.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Support clients in achieving recovery, stability, and personal goals.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and community partners.
• Participate in clinical supervision, training, and professional development.

This innovative program will provide substance use disorder treatment and restorative justice services for adults on their recovery journey.

Pay

• SAC-IT: $22.75/hour
• SAC: $26.00/hour
• CSAC: $28.00/hour

What We're Looking For

• Valid Wisconsin SAC-IT, SAC, or CSAC credential.
• Associate's degree in a human services or corrections-related field required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Knowledge of addiction, recovery, counseling, and case management principles.
• Experience working with justice-involved or correctional populations is preferred.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
