Job summary

Trendsetter Engineering, Inc. in Houston, TX is seeking a Controls Engineer I to assist with the design, documentation, analysis, and testing of control systems for harsh topsides and subsea environments.

You'll collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, manufacturing, quality, and project teams under senior guidance. The role emphasizes learning and applying industry standards, performing basic design calculations, and supporting reviews and troubleshooting while coordinating tasks

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with emphasis on Controls.
• Strong understanding of electronics and their relationship to software and hardware.
• Experience learning and integrating proven technologies into new products.
• Knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
• Installation and commissioning experience is a plus.
• Understanding hydraulic systems and general control system principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of electrical product safety and good documentation practices.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, ANSYS, SolidWorks, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Support control system functionality definition and schematics under guidance.
• Prepare and revise schematics, layouts, BOMs, drawings, and models.
• Assist with component selection and test requirements.
• Perform design calculations and basic analysis of subsea equipment.
• Check work for accuracy, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Support design reviews, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation updates.
• Coordinate tasks with designers, engineers, and QA.
• Develop knowledge of industry standards and company procedures.
• Communicate task status and potential impacts to schedule, budget, and quality.
• Perform duties at customer sites or offshore when required.
