Qualifications

  • Installation and commissioning experience is a plus.
  • Understanding hydraulic systems and general control system principles.

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, ANSYS, SolidWorks, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

Trendsetter Engineering provides Multiplexed Electro-Hydraulic (MUX) Control Systems for use in the subsea industry. The Controls Engineer I supports the design, documentation, analysis, and testing of controls equipment for harsh topsides and subsea environments. Working under the guidance of more experienced engineers, this position collaborates with mechanical, electrical, software, manufacturing, quality, and project teams to complete assigned engineering tasks in accordance with company, industry, and project requirements.

Position Duties:
  • Support the definition of control system functionality, specifications, and associated schematics under the guidance of experienced engineers.
  • Prepare and revise schematics, layouts, bills of materials, drawings, and models in accordance with established requirements and procedures.
  • Assist with component selection and development of specifications and test requirements.
  • Perform assigned design calculations and basic analysis of subsea and topside distribution equipment (SUTA, SCM, TUTA, HFL, MQC, etc.).
  • Check assigned work for accuracy, completeness, reliability, serviceability, and manufacturability.
  • Support design reviews, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation updates.
  • Coordinate assigned tasks with designers, engineers, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Customer Service.
  • Develop knowledge of applicable industry standards, company procedures, and controls system products.
  • Communicate task status, technical concerns, and potential impacts to schedule, scope, budget, and quality.
  • Perform engineering duties at customer sites or offshore when required and under appropriate supervision.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with emphasis on Controls
  • A strong understanding of electronics and their relationship to software, firmware, and mechanical interfaces and operation in a number of electrical specialties.
  • A track record of success in learning, leveraging, and integrating proven technologies into new products to solve challenging problems.
  • Broad knowledge of industry standards, best practices, and related work processes
  • Installation and commissioning experience is a plus
  • In-depth understanding of hydraulic systems
  • Proven teamwork, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A firm knowledge of electrical product safety.
  • Software Tool Suite: AutoCAD, ANSYS, SolidWorks, and Microsoft Office.
Additional Desired Knowledge and Skills:
  • Wide range of Controls engineering technological knowledge, including, but not limited to:
  • Sensing and control systems.
  • Ethernet communication systems at the physical and/or network level.
  • Instrumentation and noise.
  • Optimization of hardware and firmware integration architecture for best performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn technical concepts, follow established procedures, and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, listen and speak.
  • Frequent need for manual dexterity - using hands, fingers, and arms to push, pull, reach, grab, hold, and lift.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

  • Frequent use of PC is required.
