DIS-TRAN Steel is looking for a Submerged Arc Welder to join our Pole team in Pineville on Night Shift. The Submerged Arc Welder must be capable of operating a seam welding machine in a steel plant. This individual should be able to read a tape measure and possess basic math skills. The Submerged Arc Welder will safely operate CNC machinery and perform daily preventative maintenance on machines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Weld using a submerged arc welding machine.
• Pass the Welder I certification test.
• Perform visual inspections of machinery prior to operation.
• Measure and adjust hydraulic arms to receive material based on diameter.
• Load and unload shells from the machine using the overhead crane with proper lifting equipment (chains, plate clamps).
• Operate welding machine within parameters using predetermined settings.
• Adjust welding machine settings based on pole thickness and type.
• Adjust welding based on auditory and visual cues.
• Stop the welding machine to remove finished products, perform maintenance, or replace consumables.

Requirements for Submerged Arc Welder

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret reports and schedules.
• Ability to interpret blueprints.
• Ability to read a tape measure.
• Certifications or experience with moving machinery, such as cranes, preferred.
• Complete on-site training and demonstrate safe machinery operation.
