Job summary

American Systems is seeking a Mechanical Designer/Drafter to support United States Navy submarine programs and UUVs. The role focuses on developing and updating technical drawings and models, performing ship checks, and assisting with shipboard installation documentation in accordance with Navy, DoW, and company standards.

This 100% onsite position requires CAD proficiency, 3+ years of drafting experience, and eligibility to obtain a DoW Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• 3 years of business-related experience in CAD/Drafting (2D/3D)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering sketches and drawings
• Experience with 2D drawings and 3D solid modeling
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain DoW Secret clearance
• DoW Secret clearance required/ability to obtain
• HS Diploma or GED plus a CAD/Drafting certificate

Responsibilities

• Conduct ship checks on Navy submarines to collect field data and verify configurations.
• Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers to create 3D solid models for shipboard installations.
• Develop 2D component and assembly drawings following standards.
• Maintain lists of material (LOM) and support design reviews.
