Job summary

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a Mechanical Designer/Drafter to support United States Navy submarine programs and UUVs. You will develop and update 2D drawings and 3D models, conduct ship checks, and assist with shipboard installation documentation per Navy/DOD standards.

This 100% onsite role requires US citizenship, a DoW/Drafting certificate, and the ability to obtain a security clearance. Some travel to Navy facilities and shipyards may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with CAD/Drafting certificate.
• 3 years of experience creating 2D CAD drawings.
• Experience with 3D modeling and assembly drawings.
• Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and specifications.
• Familiarity with office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Conduct ship checks on Navy submarines to collect field data.
• Create 2D drawings and 3D models for shipboard installations.
• Update Lists of Material (LOM) and documentation.
• Collaborate with engineers to optimize mechanical designs.
• Ensure drawings conform to GD&T and ASME Y14.5 standards.
