Job summary

American Systems seeks a Mechanical Designer/Drafter II to support Navy submarine programs and UUV projects. You will develop 2D drawings and 3D models, conduct ship checks, assist with shipboard installation documentation, and ensure designs meet Navy, DoW, and company standards on site.

You will collaborate with engineers, maintain LO M lists, apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5, and participate in design reviews. A DoD clearance, a high school diploma or GED plus a CAD/Drafting certificate, and 3 years

Qualifications

• 3 years minimum of business-related experience in CAD drafting.
• Creating 2D drawings using CAD software.
• Creating 3D drawings using solid modeling design software.

Responsibilities

• Conduct ship checks on United States Navy submarines to collect field data and verify existing configurations.
• Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers to create 3D solid models and support optimization of designs for shipboard installations.
• Develop, update and maintain 2D drawings and assembly-level drawings.
