Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking a Mechancial Engineer for the Main Machinery group in Groton, CT. The role involves project management and oversight of design, development, procurement, ship integration, test, and repair of submarine main machinery components including propulsion turbines, gears, couplings, bearings, and control systems.

The engineer will interface with EB management, vendors, Navy customers, shipyard personnel, and ship's forces.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• 0-5 years of post-graduate engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Deck-plate support of shipyard test evolutions and resolution of emergent issues.
• Develop, write and peer review technical dispositions.
• Evaluate design changes to ensure compliance with specs and standards.
• Consult subject matter experts and shipyard personnel as needed.
• Interface with departments to support design reviews, procurement, operations, and test evolutions.
• Manage multiple concurrent tasks with deadlines.
